On Friday, 13 September, the Right Honourable Michael Gove, MP and Simon Reevell, MP, visited Castle Hall Academy where they met and talked with staff and students, along with invited guests, Mrs Lorraine Barker, Principal of the Mirfield Free Grammar School, Mr John McNally, Principal of Shelley College and Mr Brian Nicholson, Chair of Governors at CHA. The guests were taken on a tour of the Academy, accompanied by Head Boy, Nathaniel Denham Bosah, Head Girl, Olivia Ross and our own Y11 in-house photographer, Emma Wray and Mr Gove unveiled a plaque commemorating the refurbishment of our 3-storey block – funded by a grant of £500,000 from the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund. Mr Reevell later commented on ‘twitter’:- “Really good visit by Michael Gove to Castle Hall. MFG and Shelley Heads there also. Pupils a real credit to the school”.
